As Thanksgiving approaches it brings the several things we have to be thankful for to the forefront of our minds. Likewise, it oftentimes reminds us that others may be less fortunate.
Teaching our children kindness from the start is a great way to make a positive impact on the world.
MCNS thought it would be nice to work on something to help others who have fallen on tough times. Sometimes people just need a little help to get through, and this can be especially true at the holidays. MCNS will be putting together Blessing Bags with some items people can use if they do not have a home. These bags gather a few items that will help keep them warm or fill their bellies.
Our goal is to create 100 bags. We would like to send 50 of them home with our individual students to keep in your car in the event that you and your child see someone in need and the other 50 will go to the Open Door Mission to hand out as people come in from the cold.
We are confident that if we work together on this act of kindness it will brighten someones day.
Below is a list of items we are looking for:
Large Gallon Ziploc bags
Adult Socks
Chapstick
Travel packs of Tissues
Mini Water Bottles
Raisins
Fruit Snacks
Cheese Crackers
Granola Bars.
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Dr. Wendy Marshall at Finger Lakes Dental of Victor, who has agreed to donate toothpaste and toothbrushes for the bags as well.
