Yoga

Through stories, music, and gross motor movement, students will “play” through their yoga class and reap all the benefits of balance, flexibility, endurance, and relaxation! This class will utilize different thematic units to make some of the abstract concepts in our grown up world more connectable. This enrichment class is unique to MCNS with our school being one of the first to integrate early childhood development and yoga certification to create an enrichment class that allows students to connect with their feelings and emotions while having fun with thematic units. We are very excited about this new program and all its benefits.

Anita Ricci

Yoga wasn’t in my world until 12 years ago. As the only daughter and oldest child in my household, I was highly motivated to hit my personal goals but found exercise a waste of my valuable time. I managed to graduate from college, get married, and get my dream teaching job all by the time I was 21 years old. I had all 3 of my sons by the time I was 28. That fast track ended abruptly when I had a Traumatic Brain Injury at 31 that left me with brain damage as well as anxiety, depression, and daily migraines. After a lot of unsuccessful medicines, a neurologist changed my life forever by suggesting I take Yoga classes. I had instant success. I finally learned to slow myself down and haven’t missed a day of practice since. I am a true product of using yoga to transform your life and I knew I had to find some way to share it. In 2014, I was motivated to get my children’s yoga certification and have been teaching in studios, schools, and libraries ever since. I am extremely passionate that my purpose is to give yoga tools to kids to empower them to understand their outside world, how they fit into it, and how to love themselves.
